Commercial Port
The port and the town of Savona have grown together through two thousand years of history.
In the last decade the oldest quays of the port, close to the town’s centre, have been renovated and dedicated to tourism activities as cruises and leisure boating, while cargo handling activities are gathered in the port area farthest from the town, where deep waters (18.5 m draught) allow even the biggest vessels to moor safely.
In recent years, the Port of Vado Ligure reinforced its leading position in the Med Sea as for fruit trade, while the steady growth of container traffic led the Port Authority to plan the realisation of a new dedicated terminal: construction works started in late 2010 and will be completed by 2014, then APM Terminals will start operations.
